Meadow Trail: Nordic Skiing at Teacup Lake

About Teacup Lake Nordic

Teacup lake is an expansive and very well maintained Nordic center that is operated by volunteers.  This trail system is operated by the Oregon Nordic Club and leased from Mt Hood National Forest.  The trail system is costly to maintain and is one  of the most frequented and best near the Columbia Gorge and Mt Hood.  Donations to them are greatly needed and deserved.  the cost to maintain the trails is $2,000 a week as of 2012 so the $10.00 day fee or $60.00 annual is needed and warranted.  Donations are greatly helpful and can be given to Oregon Nordic Club…

Meadow Trail Overview

This is a green (easy) trail that makes a loop that is almost 8km or just under 5 miles.  This can be made into a slightly longer 5.2 mile loop by following the outermost loop and veering on to the Owly Way to Elkhorn blue trails and back onto Meadow Trail.  This trail offers great views of Mt Hood and the surrounding foothills–when its not clouded in that is.  Dogs or snowshoes are not allowed on the  trail.

Expect to find a well-maintained and groomed trail with pleasant flats through meadows past wooded areas and cabins and Teacup Lake near the end or start depending on what direction you travel.    There is little elevation gain on this trail and it is sometimes populated with small crowds on weekends.  Weekdays are great and much less traffic.

From the snow park (parking on Rt 35) skate back to the Ray Garey Cabin and restroom area.  Make a left and follow signs to do the Meadow trail (green) clockwise.  At one mile you will reach a meadow.

Cruise the meadow or take the optional Rabbit Ears (blue) trail on the right (33km and connects back on Meadow shortly).

Go one more mile and make a sharp right at larch Lane and continue on this Green for .22km (less than half mile) then follow Hood River Road straight then veer left with Hood river Road and continue on it for 2km until you see Stump Street on the right.

Follow Stump Street a short way to Nordic Way then right on Nordic Way to Lakeside trail.  The Lakeside trail will take you back to the cabin where you started.
